Samsung Maybe Preparing Global Rollout of Galaxy S26’s AI Scam Detection

Samsung introduced an AI-powered Scam Detection tool with the Galaxy S26 series. Co-developed with Google, the feature is currently only available for English-speaking users in the US. That may soon change, however, as new evidence suggests Samsung is preparing to expand it to more regions. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and Wide Fold may bring Scam Detection worldwide.
Galaxy S26’s AI-powered Scam Detection may go global soon
Our friends over at Android Authority recently discovered interesting code strings buried inside a recent beta build of Google’s Phone app. These strings reference model numbers tied to upcoming Samsung foldables, suggesting that the AI-powered Scam Detection tool is coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and the Wide Fold.
More importantly, multiple regional variants of these foldables appeared in those strings, including the global units. This strongly suggests that Samsung is aligning Scam Detection for a coordinated international rollout.
Powered by Google’s Gemini A, the feature is already deeply integrated into Samsung’s dialer experience on the Galaxy S26 series. However, its limited availability suggests the initial launch was a pilot program to test its effectiveness. Samsung may now be gearing up for a wider rollout. The new foldables are rumored to launch on July 22, with the Unpacked event taking place in London.
This Scam Detection tool may also arrive on some existing Galaxy devices, at least recent flagships, though we do not have any confirmation. Samsung is currently testing the One UI 8.5 update, with the stable rollout expected later this month. The Galaxy S25 series will receive the update first, followed by other models.
That said, the new foldables will ship with One UI 9 (based on Android 17), so maybe existing models will have to wait for that update to receive Scam Detection, if at all. We shall find out in the coming months.
