Samsung has started rolling out the May 2026 security update to the Galaxy S26 (for those not participating in One UI 9 Beta) and Galaxy S25 series in the United States. The latest security fixes are now available for carrier-locked units on select networks. A wider rollout covering factory-unlocked units should begin soon.
Galaxy S26 and S25 phones get May 2026 security update in the US
This month’s security release for Galaxy devices includes fixes for a total of 39 vulnerabilities identified across Android and Samsung software components. Samsung has already rolled out these fixes to dozens of Galaxy smartphones and tablets, with some getting them bundled with the One UI 8.5 update.
The Galaxy S25 models didn’t get the May patch with One UI 8.5, but Samsung pushed the new security fixes to the devices with a separate update. The Galaxy S26 series, which runs One UI 8.5 out of the box, also recently got the new security patch. After an initial release in some international markets, the update is now live for the US units.
The May 2026 update for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra carries firmware version AZE1, while it’s CZE1 for their predecessors. The Galaxy S25 Edge is also getting the same build version (CZE1), but that for the S25 FE is BZE1. That said, the build version may vary depending on the model and carrier.
Regardless of the identifier, the update contains the same changelog. Samsung is pushing nothing more than the latest security fixes. Well, there may be some additional optimizations for enhanced system smoothness, but do not expect any new features here.
If you are using a Galaxy S26 or S25 phone in the US, you can check for the new update now by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Since the rollout began recently, not everyone may receive this update right away. If you do not see anything today, wait a few days and check again.
As mentioned above, this May update is only available for Galaxy S26 users not participating in One UI 9 Beta. Those on Beta have already received the June patch with the second beta update earlier this week. Samsung may begin a wider rollout of the new security release early next month.
