Tipster Claims Galaxy S25 Ultra is “Confirmed” to get a 16GB RAM Variant

by | Sep 28, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung isn’t expected to unveil the Galaxy S25 series flagships before early next year. However, it hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from revealing key specifications of the next-gen high-end models. We already know that the Galaxy S25 series will likely utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Now, the gadget tipster Ice Universe claims that one of the variants of the Galaxy S25 Ultra will offer 16GB of RAM.

Reputable leaker confirms 16GB of RAM for the Galaxy S25 Ultra

In a post on X, Ice Universe has claimed that a 16GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is “100% confirmed”. Notably, the tipster alluded to similar information earlier in July as well. However, now the leaker is certain that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a 16GB RAM variant. All the Galaxy S24 Ultra storage models have 12GB of RAM. So there’s a possibility that all the storage variants of the Galaxy S25 Ultra will get 16GB of RAM.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Galaxy S25 Ultra was recently benchmarked by Geekbench with 12GB of RAM. So we can’t deny the possibility of two RAM variants of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Nevertheless, the new Ultra model will offer a significant upgrade over its predecessor in the memory department. For the uninitiated, the last Samsung flagship to boast 16GB of RAM was the Galaxy S21 Ultra from 2021.

The flagship could have the new LPDDR6 RAM modules

Apart from higher RAM, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is also expected to flaunt the latest LPDDR6 DRAM modules. These would provide a noticeable upgrade in terms of performance and efficiency. Reports in March suggested that Samsung and SK Hynix are collaborating to get a certification on LPDDR6 RAM modules. The new mobile RAM will deliver better performance and compatibility with advanced chips.

Samsung already introduced the new and faster LPDDR5X DRAM earlier in April. It is expected to be the last major upgrade of the LPDDR5 before the LPDDR6 chips come into existence in the coming months. The LPDDR5X DRAM is already quite fast at 10.7Gbps, 11 percent faster than the 9.6Gbps LPDDR5T variant. We can’t wait to find out how Samsung is going to push the limits on the next-gen RAM module.

That said, since nothing is officially confirmed at the moment, we advise you to take this information with a grain of salt for now. We will bring you more details as soon as they become available, so stay tuned to SammyGuru for the latest updates.
