Galaxy S25 June 2026 Update May Carry a Surprise Samsung Didn’t Mention

Samsung has started rolling out the June 2026 software update for the Galaxy S25 series. The update is currently available in South Korea and should expand to more markets over the coming days. More importantly, this release appears to be more than a routine security patch.
Galaxy S25 series gets a bigger June 2026 update
The firmware builds for the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge carry a “U” version (S938NKSUACZF1 for the Ultra). This, in addition to the OTA size of nearly 900MB, suggests that Samsung may be delivering more than just security improvements. If we are to guess, the update may contain additional features and enhancements missing from the original One UI 8.5 rollout last month.
Features like Priority Notifications, Summarize Notifications, 24MP shooting mode, Horizontal Lock, and Now Nudge, all of which debuted with One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S26 series, didn’t arrive on the S25. Reports suggested that Samsung was preparing to bring some of those to its 2025 flagships with the June update. Hopefully, this release contains a few expected features.
We’ll know exactly what’s included once the update becomes available more widely, as Samsung’s official changelog in Korea doesn’t reveal much. Until then, the new firmware build suggests this may be more than the typical monthly security patch.
Regardless of any new features, the update also includes Samsung’s June 2026 security patch. According to Samsung’s security bulletin, the June release addresses over 40 Android OS and Galaxy-specific vulnerabilities to improve overall device security.
Note that the Galaxy S25 FE has already picked up the June update in Korea. However, the Fan Edition model only received the latest security fixes. That likely means it isn’t eligible for additional One UI 8.5 features. The phone got a fingerprint accuracy enhancement tool last month. This feature remains missing on the rest of the S25 lineup.
