Samsung is rolling out AirDrop support to more Galaxy phones. The feature debuted on the Galaxy S26 series and is now available for the Galaxy S25 and S24 users on One UI 8.5 beta. More devices are expected to receive it in the coming weeks.

AirDrop support arrives on older Galaxy phones with the latest One UI 8.5 beta

Earlier today, Samsung rolled out new One UI 8.5 beta updates for the Galaxy S25 and S24 lineups. Alongside a bunch of bug fixes, the devices received AirDrop support. This feature allows you to transfer files between Galaxy phones and iPhones using Quick Share. Earlier, Quick Share only worked with Android devices, as AirDrop was locked to Apple products.

This is a significant quality-of-life improvement, especially for Galaxy users who have friends and families using iPhones. The best part is its simplicity, as everything works through preinstalled apps, removing the need for third-party workarounds. Samsung should roll out AirDrop support for more Galaxy devices with the One UI 8.5 update.

Meanwhile, the latest beta releases for the Galaxy S25 and S24 phones bring new camera filters too. Samsung is pushing the Classic Film, Pop Film, and Blanc filters it introduced with the Galaxy S26 series to its earlier flagships. You can apply these filters before clicking the shot in the main camera app. They sit alongside existing filters, giving users more creative flexibility.

As far as the stable One UI 8.5 update is concerned, we may still be a few weeks away from it. Leaks suggest the Galaxy S25 series will get one more beta (it’ll be Beta 10) before the stable build, which may arrive at the end of this month. Users with a Galaxy S24 device may have to wait until May for the update, while some older models may not get it until June or July.
