Frankly, there’s little to know about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge. The company has teased it twice. First during Unpacked, then again at the recent Mobile World Congress. But one thing remains common between both these teasers. No one was allowed to take a hands-on or simply touch it and feel the material. Thankfully, in a one-on-one with TechRadar on the sidelines of MWC, a Samsung executive explained why that’s the case.
Samsung exec talks Galaxy S25 Edge and why durability is an important factor
Speaking to TechRadar about the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung’s UK Marketing Director, Annika Bizon, explained that the “sexy” form factor won’t come at the cost of durability. The durability of slim phones is surely a concern, but Samsung is confident it has found the right balance.
“I can’t say too much, but what I will say is that [the Galaxy S25 Edge] is about beautiful form factor. And there are two points I want to make,” Bizon explained. “One is that it’s absolutely stunning. And if you think about the technology that’s going into that size of space, it’s pretty impressive.”
She further emphasized that durability was a key priority, despite the Galaxy S25 Edge’s ultra-thin design. “The second thing I’ll say concerns durability. With anything slim, durability [has to come as part of the package]. Those are the two features [of the Galaxy S25 Edge] that are exciting [for us]. Well, I know durability isn’t exciting – but it’s really important.”
A repoprt suggests that Samsung could be using a ceramic rear panel instead of Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This will make the S25 Edge more resistant to drops and scratches. The company’s reluctance to let people go hands-on with the device may be a strategic decision. As Bizon put it: “So watch this space, because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone.”
