Samsung made waves earlier this year by showcasing the Galaxy S25 Edge at the Galaxy Unpacked event. It’s a slim flagship slated to arrive in a few months. Leaks have already revealed a handful of information about the device. As the launch draws closer, we now have fresh insight into its build quality. A new leak says Samsung will use a ceramic back on the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Galaxy S25 Edge features a ceramic back, aluminum frame
While the Galaxy S25 Edge may miss out on the S25 Ultra’s titanium frame — likely features the same Aror Aluminum body as the S25 and S25+ — this slim flagship may get a ceramic rear panel. This shift from Gorilla Glass Victus 2, used in the other S25 models, suggests Samsung is prioritizing durability and possibly weight reduction. Note that the S25 Ultra uses Gorilla Armor 2 on the front and back.
It remains unclear whether the back is entirely ceramic or a hybrid glass-ceramic material. Either way, this design choice sets the Galaxy S25 Edge apart from its counterparts. The phone is shaping up to be the slimmest ever from Samsung. Rumors suggest it will be just 5.84mm thick, though we are still awaiting confirmation. Samsung dropped the telephoto zoom camera to achieve a thin design.
The new phone might make another brief appearance at MWC Barcelona early next month (March 3-6, 2005), followed by an official launch sometime in April or May. Despite some reports claiming Samsung will not launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in the US, its US version (model number SM-S937U) keeps appearing online. It recently resurfaced on Geekbench with 12GB RAM and the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
That’s the same chipset powering the Galaxy S25 Ultra, so Samsung isn’t compromising on performance. However, a slim profile means the company could throttle performance to keep the temperature in check. Expect more details about the Galaxy S25 Edge to emerge in the build-up to its launch later this year.
