Samsung sold over 37 million Galaxy S24 phones in 2024, a recent market study reveals. As expected, the Ultra model accounted for nearly half of all sales, while the Plus model had the lowest numbers. Early sales of the newly launched Galaxy S25 series suggest a similar trend, with the Ultra once again taking the lead.
Samsung registers solid flagship sales growth with the Galaxy S24 lineup
According to the South Korean financial services company Hana Securities (via X/@Jukanlosreve), the cumulative sales figure of Samsung’s Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra flagships reached 37.17 million units in 2024. That’s the total number of units shipped globally since the launch, which took place on January 17, 2024.
In comparison, the total sales of the Galaxy S23 series in its launch year (launched on February 1, 2023) was 31.11 million units. A 19% annual growth in flagship sales is a healthy number, especially when you consider the fierce competition in the Android space. Samsung would now be looking to build on this success, aiming to touch the 40 million mark for the Galaxy S25 series this year.
The new flagships have seen strong pre-orders in several markets, but it’s still too early. The devices have yet to be available in stores globally. Word of mouth plays a big role in sustained demand. If Samsung fails to impress early adopters, sales could decline in the coming months. We are still evaluating the devices, so stay tuned for our full reviews.
That said, the Galaxy S25 Ultra looks solid with several meaningful upgrades. It is well-positioned to carry the trend forward. The report says Samsung sold 16.82 million units of the Galaxy S24 Ultra last year, followed by the base model with 13.20 million units. The Galaxy S24+ sold 7.14 million units globally. For the Galaxy S23 series, Ultra accounted for 14.34 million units, Plus for 5.68 million, and the base model for 11.08 million.
