Samsung has begun the new week with another One UI 8.5 beta release. The company is rolling out the second beta build for the Galaxy S23 series. As expected, Beta 2 brings a set of targeted fixes aimed at improving day-to-day usability for users as Samsung gears up for the stable rollout. The devices remain on the April 2026 security patch.

Galaxy S23 series gets One UI 8.5 Beta 2 with key fixes

This second One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra arrives with firmware version ZZDP. It focuses heavily on stability across core functions like calling, camera performance, and connectivity. Samsung has addressed a frustrating issue where the screen would either go black unexpectedly or respond slowly when receiving calls. The proximity sensor error has also been patched.

Additionally, this update fixes a camera bug that caused green lines to appear when recording 4K HDR videos in certain apps. Galaxy S23 users on One UI 8.5 Beta should now get cleaner and more consistent video recording across supported apps. Other fixes improve Bluetooth performance and multi-touch, enabling a smoother everyday performance.

Users enrolled in the beta program can download the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. As with previous beta builds, availability is limited to select regions, but should soon expand to all supported markets. There may be more beta releases for the Galaxy S23 series before Samsung pushes the stable One UI 8.5 update.

Meanwhile, the stable rollout could begin later this month for the Galaxy S25 lineup. Beta users in Korea may get the update first, followed by the rest of the world in early May. The 2025 flagships have picked up ten beta builds so far, stretching back to December 2025. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
