Galaxy S23 users, your One UI 7.0 beta update might be close. Samsung just rolled out the March security update for your phone, starting in the US. It could soon follow up with the first beta release. The company did something similar with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 — immediately following up the March security patch with the first One UI 7.0 beta update.
Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series picks up the March security update
Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy S23 series will receive One UI 7.0 beta updates in the US, the UK, India, and South Korea. It vaguely said the update will arrive within March but didn’t specify a release date. In the meantime, the company has released the latest security patch for its 2023 flagships.
As of this writing, the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are picking up the March security update in the US. The update is available for carrier-locked units with the firmware build number S91*USQS6CYB3. The Korean behemoth will soon push the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to unlocked units. International models should also receive the update in the coming days.
Alongside this month’s 50+ security fixes, this update introduces upgraded bootloader version, meaning changes to internal security policies. Galaxy S23 users cannot roll back to the previous firmware build after installing the latest release. Hopefully, this means Samsung is preparing the devices for One UI 7.0 beta.
As mentioned above, Samsung immediately followed the March SMR with the first beta release for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. Since the Galaxy S23 lineup is already confirmed to receive One UI 7.0 beta this month, the wait shouldn’t be much longer. The company also plans to extend beta updates to the Galaxy Tab S10 series and Galaxy A55 within March. The stable update will roll out next month.
