Samsung has rolled out a major update for Camera Assistant in One UI 8.5. The new version, available with One UI 8.5 Beta 2, gives users more control without switching to full Pro mode. The module also introduces manual toggles for a couple of existing camera features, allowing users to disable those if not needed.

Camera Assistant enables Pro-level control in regular Photo mode in One UI 8.5

The headline addition is Pro Control, a new option within Camera Assistant that lets users limit shutter speed and ISO while shooting at 12MP in Photo mode. Until now, manual exposure control was largely confined to Pro mode, which not everyone prefers for quick shots. With this change, you can cap shutter speed to avoid motion blur or overexposure and restrict ISO levels to reduce noise in challenging lighting.

All of this works while staying in the familiar Auto Photo interface, making it far easier to get consistent results in tricky conditions without fully manual shooting. You can also add white balance and exposure controls to the Photo mode via Camera Assistant.

Additionally, this update adds toggles for Dual Recording and Single Take. These features were previously available by default in the main camera app, under the More menu. However, Samsung removed them in One UI 8.5 Beta 1, and then added to Camera Assistant in Beta 2. Galaxy users who find these features useful must enable them via Camera Assistant in One UI 8.5.

All of these changes are exclusive to One UI 8.5, so users on older versions will have to wait for this update. Even those on the new version need to sign up for Camera Assistant beta to receive the new features. Open this link on your Galaxy S25 running One UI 8.5 Beta to proceed. Samsung will roll out this update widely in the second quarter of 2026.
