Google has finally flipped the switch, and Android 17 is now rolling out to Pixel devices. After months in beta, the stable update is landing alongside the June 2026 Pixel Feature Drop. The rollout starts with Pixel 6 and newer models. As with any major update, it brings a fresh batch of features and refinements.

What’s new with Android 17 update

Google highlights a range of features in Android 17 and has even confirmed that select devices will receive Gemini Intelligence later this year. Now, let’s take a look at some of these features:

Bubbles for multitasking: You can turn any app into a floating window just by long-pressing its icon. These stay on top, so you can quickly switch between tasks without losing what you’re doing. On bigger screens, they sit in a bar at the bottom. You can resize or expand them anytime.

Screen Reactions: Screen recording is now more fun and useful. With Screen Reactions, you can record your screen and yourself at the same time using the front camera. It’s an easy way to react to apps, websites, or videos without jumping between apps.

Foldable gaming mode: Foldable phones get a new gaming layout. The game runs on the top half, while controls sit on the bottom. It makes gameplay feel more natural. There’s also better memory handling, so games run smoother with fewer lags.

Security upgrades: You can now share only selected contacts and give apps temporary location access. The improved “Mark as lost” feature locks your phone more securely. There’s also better protection against scams and stricter limits on PIN attempts.
