There has been quite a bit of confusion lately surrounding the official marketing names of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z8 foldables. Now, the devices have appeared on Thailand’s NBTC certification database. Although the listing does not reveal any major specifications, it confirms the official names and model numbers ahead of launch, putting much of the confusion to rest.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8 receive NBTC certification

We have now spotted the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 on the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) database. The devices carry model numbers SM-F976B, SM-F971B, and SM-F776B, respectively. Furthermore, the “B” suffix indicates that these are the global variants.

To put it simply, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (SM-F976) will succeed last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (SM-F971) is Samsung’s wider passport-style foldable. This is the one that has generated most of the excitement in recent months. Last but not the least, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 (SM-F776) will succeed the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung appears to be adopting a slightly different naming strategy this time.

The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z8 lineup at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, with London serving as the host city. The sales could begin August 7. However, Samsung has yet to officially confirm the availability date. Either way, we are now barely a month away from the next Galaxy Unpacked event.

All three foldables are expected to start with 256GB of base storage. Prices are also rumoured to increase across the lineup due to the inevitable — rising manufacturing costs. If you’re planning to pick up any of the new upcoming foldables and live in the US, don’t forget to sign up for our Mystery Box program.
