Qualcomm’s Snapdragon C Platform Targets $300 Windows Laptops

Qualcomm has announced an entry‑tier processor called Snapdragon C Platform. The chip will power budget Windows laptops in the the $300 range. Acer becomes the first OEM to announce a device using the new platform. Samsung’s plans remain unclear at this moment.

Snapdragon C chip brings AI to entry-level laptops

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon C Platform targets the $300 and up price segment of Windows laptops. The company aims to make modern personal computing more accessible for students, families, and small businesses. The chip offers seamless web browsing, video streaming, and productivity.

“As costs rise and customer expectations evolve, Snapdragon C brings together value oriented computing, all-day battery life, AI capabilities and responsive performance in cool-quiet devices for expanded platform choice,” said Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compute and Gaming, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

While the press release did not share detailed specs, the Snapdragon C features an integrated NPU to unlock AI features in budget laptops. The chip delivers great power efficiency so people can depend on affordable devices for day-to-day use. It keeps laptops portable with all-day battery life. The best thing is that it offers solid performance for daily workloads while staying cool and quiet.

Qualcomm said leading OEMs, including Acer, HP, and Lenovo, will use the Snapdragon C Platform. In fact, Acer has already announced the Aspire Go 15 laptop that features the new chip. The laptop offers up to 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage with a 53Wh cell. It boasts a 15.6-inch Full HD (1080p) display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. For connectivity, we get dual USB Type-C ports, an HDMI port, and Wi-Fi 6E support. Pricing and availability are currently under wraps.

As of now, it is unclear if Samsung will use the Snapdragon C Platform in its future laptops. However, the Korean firm previously worked with Qualcomm on affordable laptops such as the Galaxy Book Go (which used an entry-level Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 chip). So, a future launch is possible.
