Samsung Rolls Out May 2026 Update for Galaxy S23 Lineup

Earlier this month, Samsung released the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S23 series worldwide, including the US. The company has now followed up with another update that introduces the latest security fixes. The May 2026 security patch is currently rolling out in select markets, with a global release expected soon.

Galaxy S23 series gets first update after One UI 8.5

First reported by Tarun Vats on X, the Galaxy S3 lineup is now receiving the May 2026 security update in Europe and select Asian countries. The new firmware carries the build version FZE1 and comes with a file size of around 434MB for the base S24 and 444MB for the S23 Ultra. The exact size and firmware version may vary depending on the model, carrier, and your region.

The update mainly focuses on security enhancements. Samsung’s latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for Galaxy devices contains nearly 40 fixes, some of which are classified as critical flaws. The new firmware build for the Galaxy S23 lineup may also bring additional optimizations for a smoother One UI 8.5 experience, but do not expect any new features.

The devices recently picked up a ton of goodies with One UI 8.5. Samsung introduced numerous interface refinements throughout the system, alongside newer Galaxy AI features and updated stock apps. Several Galaxy S23 users say the phones feel faster and more polished compared to earlier One UI versions. The latest release now addresses security vulnerabilities.

Samsung should gradually release the May update for the Galaxy S23 lineup in more markets over the coming days. Users can manually check for the new update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Since the rollout is happening in phases, availability may vary depending on the region and carrier.
