US Galaxy S23 Users Can Now Download Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Update

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update is now available for the Galaxy S23 series in the US. After debuting in South Korea and gradually expanding to international markets over the past few days, the update has finally reached the US shores. It is currently rolling out to carrier-locked units, but unlocked models should join the rollout soon.

One UI 8.5 hits the Galaxy S23 lineup in the US

Users with a carrier-locked Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, or Galaxy S23 Ultra can now install One UI 8.5 on their devices. Samsung is rolling out the update with firmware version S91*USQU7FZE2 and a download size of over 4.1GB (via X/@BlaQlys). Well, the build number and file size may vary depending on the model and carrier.

There is no official confirmation regarding the unlocked rollout yet, but Samsung usually expands the availability of major updates pretty quickly. One UI 8.5 should soon reach all Galaxy S23 units stateside. The Galaxy S23 FE should also get this update in the coming days. If you are using any of these phones in the US, you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The massive update size already reveals that this update isn’t your regular monthly security patch. It’s a major feature release from Samsung. One UI 8.5 introduces smoother system animations, cleaner visual elements, and tons of other functional enhancements across the system.

The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are also eligible for Samsung’s One UI 9 update, which brings Android 17. Beta testing is already underway on the Galaxy S26 flagships. While the company will almost certainly expand the beta program to more devices, it’s unclear if the S23 series will get beta access. The stable version is expected in the second half of the year.
