A major update rolled out to the Galaxy XR two weeks ago, bringing a range of new features, including enterprise support and more immersive interactions. But it turns out users are reporting significant performance issues after this Android XR update. The problem appears to affect both gaming sessions and everyday tasks.

Performance issues hit Galaxy XR after latest Android XR update

A critical memory leak appears to be the main cause behind these problems. Users report on Reddit that memory usage keeps rising during use until the system becomes unstable. After about 20 to 30 minutes, frame rates drop sharply, apps begin to lag, and the experience becomes almost unusable.

Some users report that the problem isn’t limited to gaming. Even basic navigation and apps are affected. In several cases, restarting the headset every half hour is the only temporary fix. This has made daily usage frustrating for many early adopters of the device.

Google acknowledges bug and promises fix

Thankfully, Google has now officially responded to the issue through its community channels. A representative confirmed that the team is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. The company says releasing a fix is now a top priority, although it hasn’t shared an exact timeline.

While the acknowledgment offers some reassurance, it doesn’t reveal how long the fix will take. The lack of a clear schedule means affected owners will have to continue dealing with unstable performance for now.

As you’ve probably guessed, if you have a Galaxy XR and haven’t updated to the April update yet, it might be best to hold off for now until Google fixes these issues. But if you’ve already updated, you may not have any other choice than to wait. We’ll be sure to let you know once these problems are fixed.

If you’re curious how much the Galaxy XR costs right now, it’s still available for $1,799 and comes with a bunch of freebies. And before you go ahead and pick one up, be sure to check out our thoughts to see if it’s the right fit for you.
