Here’s Your First Look at One UI 9 Settings with a Cleaner Layout

Everyone is currently focused on One UI 8.5 beta rollouts and stable release plans. However, several One UI 9 features, including changes to the Gallery app, Now Bar, and Now Brief, are already out. Now, a few changes to the One UI 9 Settings app have surfaced.

Samsung appears to be moving towards a more organized and clutter-free design. In some areas, the company may also remove small descriptions under different options to simplify the interface.

Samsung may simplify the Settings app in One UI 9 with a cleaner layout and reduced clutter

Starting with the Light and Dark mode selector. In One UI 8.5, Samsung shows two half-phone previews to represent both modes. In One UI 9, this may change to full phone previews, offering a clearer view of each mode.

Next is the Apps section in Settings. In One UI 8.5, tapping on Apps shows all system and installed apps in alphabetical order, along with small details like storage size for each app. In One UI 9, Samsung may take a cleaner approach. Apps could be grouped alphabetically, with headers for each section. At the same time, the small preview details for each app may be removed to reduce clutter.

The Samsung Account section also appears to have changed. Samsung may remove descriptions in certain areas and introduce minor visual tweaks, including more consistent circular icons instead of mixed shapes, resulting in a more pleasing and minimalistic UI overall.

Finally, the Galaxy AI section could also receive a cleaner layout. In One UI 8.5, each feature includes a description below its name. With One UI 9, Samsung may remove these descriptions to maintain a simpler and more consistent interface.

That said, this is still early information, and changes are likely. Android 17-based One UI 9 is expected to debut around July, possibly alongside the next generation of foldables. Some of these features could change by the time of stable update, but it’s exciting to see what changes Samsung is cooking.
