First Look at One UI 9’s Tap to Share and Redesigned Now Brief

Development for One UI 9 is moving along nicely, with many changes being spotted as builds continue to leak out. In this latest drop, we’ll take a look at One UI 9’s upcoming Tap to Share feature in Quick Share, as well as a subtle redesign to Now Brief. 

Here’s your early look at One UI 9’s Tap to Share feature

The folks at Android Authority recently discovered a new feature hidden within One UI 9’s Quick Share. This being similar to Airdrop, it will let two Android users tap the top of their devices together to share contacts and files. 

We’ve gotten our hands on an updated version of Quick Share, which has some more information. First, the Tap to Share settings page has some more text describing how the feature will work, and a header image. This is the same as the Share with Apple devices image, so is likely just a placeholder. 

The second is very similar, a dialog box that pops up on first use, describing how Tap to Share works. You unlock both devices, overlap the top of two phones, and hold them there. Then the files will transfer. We have more info here if you need a recap. 

This feature is far from being functional yet, but this is developing at a fast pace. So keep your eyes peeled. 

Now Brief gets some brighter colors

Within One UI 9’s Personal Data Intelligence app, the Now Brief widgets gets a splash of paint. The widgets get a more dynamic gradient, with a blue to orange fade for the evening. Opening it shows even more color changes, with another bright gradient. There’s likely more color variations for different times of the day. 

Things are moving along nicely, and One UI 9 is shaping up to be an exciting update. So far, not many devices have builds in development, but we’re expecting more to arrive soon. Moreover, One UI 9 stable update will debut on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Wide Fold, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 foldables.
