Samsung Showcases Its Android XR Headset at MWC 2025

Back in December 2024, Samsung announced its first extended reality (XR) headset, Project Moohan (which means “infinity” in Korean). The company also teased the headset during the January Unpacked event. Now, the South Korean giant has taken advantage of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 to showcase Project Moohan again.

In case you are unfamiliar, Project Moohan is the first device to use the Android XR platform, which was developed in collaboration with Google. This platform is for both headsets and smart glasses and offers a unified ecosystem for XR experiences. This Android XR headset is still under development and could be available for purchase next year.

A glimpse at Samsung’s Project Moohan Android XR headset

Visitors at Samsung’s MWC 2025 booth can see the real-world mockups of the headset, but only from a certain distance. No one is allowed to touch it. “Debuted with the Android XR platform in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the device will leverage multimodal AI technology to enable more natural and conversation-like interactions,” Samsung says in its press release. The press release also attached a couple of photos of the headset from different angles, which you can see below:

Design-wise, it looks similar to the Apple Vision Pro. The headset’s front features four cameras and capacitive control strips on its stems. Unfortunately, the Korean firm did not reveal its specifications, pricing, release timeline, or other details.

However, previous reports suggest it will run on a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, which supports on-device AI. The headset could support Gemini AI, enabling voice and visual-based interactions. Regarding pricing, rumors say it could cost between $2,000 and $3,000. That’s a premium price tag, but thankfully less than the Apple Vision Pro, which costs $3,500 in the US.

In addition to the Project Moohan Android XR headset, Samsung showcased its upcoming ultra-slim flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge, at MWC 2025.
