YouTube has introduced Ask YouTube and Gemini Omni tools to its platform. Both tools are currently rolling out, though the former is limited to Premium subscribers, while the latter is free. The new features will make it easier for users to search for videos and create content in intelligent ways.

Ask YouTube anything with AI search

YouTube’s search bar now works more like a conversation tool with Ask YouTube. Now you do not need to type queries, as you can ask more complex questions in a natural way. For example, when you ask, “How do I teach my child to ride a bicycle?” the system will compile relevant video results across all of the platform’s catalog (long-form videos and Shorts).

This new conversational search experience also supports follow-up questions. That means you can continue refining the search without having to start from scratch. For example, after getting results about bicycle training, you can ask about the safest age, and the system will refine the results.

As of now, Ask YouTube is available only to Premium members (aged 18 and up) in the United States.

Gemini Omni boosts video remixing

On the other hand, Google recently introduced its new AI video model, Gemini Omni, that lets you edit video with natural language. While the model is rolling out through AI plans like AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra via the Gemini app and Google Flow, YouTube users can enjoy it for free in supported tools.

The company has integrated Omni into the YouTube Shorts Remix and YouTube Create on iOS and Android. This gives you a fresh way to create and remix videos easily. Omni understands what you want to do and helps create more consistent and meaningful storytelling. It also handles complex video and audio edits in the background.

“This update makes Shorts remixing easier for both viewers and creators – whether you want to swap in your pet, put a fresh twist on a video with stylistic changes, or add yourself to a scene, these tools let you join trends and conversations in a whole new way,” said TeamYouTube.
