Galaxy S27 Pro Camera Leak Suggests Samsung is Building a Compact Ultra

After the disappointing response to the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung may be rethinking its flagship strategy for next year. Instead of focusing on ultra-thin designs, the company is developing a new Galaxy S27 Pro model that could sit just below the Ultra. Early leaks suggest the device may offer premium camera hardware.
Leaked specs paint an impressive early picture of the Galaxy S27 Pro
Rumors have long suggested that the Galaxy S27 Pro may boast many of the same high-end features as the Ultra variant, with the lack of an S Pen and a few smaller hardware compromises helping differentiate the two. Samsung essentially wants to make a more compact top-tier flagship for those who find the Ultra too bulky. Leaked specs suggest it could achieve that goal.
According to well-known tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S27 Pro could share both its primary and ultrawide cameras with the S27 Ultra. More importantly, the leaker claims these are “entirely new” sensors rather than recycled hardware from older Galaxy devices. The resolution may remain unchanged at 200MP (main) and 50MP (ultrawide), but the sensors could be new.
If true, Samsung’s 2027 flagships could take smartphone photography to a whole new level. However, the Ultra may still hold an edge over the Pro in zoom photography. The tipster didn’t share details about the telephoto setup on either model, but hinted that the Galaxy S27 Pro’s zoom camera will differ from the Ultra’s implementation. And it’s only natural that the S27 Ultra gets better hardware.
Interestingly, there have been rumors of Samsung removing the aging 10MP 3x telephoto sensor from its flagships next year. This new report suggests the company is indeed doing something new, though details are scarce. Expect more Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra leaks in the coming weeks.
