Samsung’s Focus on Quality Delays One UI 7.0, Plans Short Beta

by | Aug 21, 2024 | News, One UI

The delay in Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta release is disappointing, but there may be a good reason behind it. A tipster recently shared some important insights allegedly coming straight from the One UI developer team. They say the company’s renewed commitment to quality is the primary reason for the delay. The firm is rigorously testing the big update internally for a more stable beta experience.

Samsung delayed One UI 7.0 beta to ensure a higher stability

Recent developments suggest Samsung won’t start One UI 7.0 beta programs before September. While there has been no official communication from the Korean firm, a tipster claims to have received insider information from the One UI developer team. The company is taking a more cautious approach this time around to deliver a more stable version from the start, so users don’t have to deal with annoying bugs.

Samsung is allegedly conducting multiple levels of One UI 7.0 alpha testing internally. It plans to identify and resolve more obvious bugs and issues during the development cycle. This preemptive approach should ensure a more polished user experience when the beta finally rolls out. As such, Samsung won’t have to release multiple beta builds. The One UI 7.0 beta program will be shorter than before.

While a release date or even a vague timeline is still missing, it appears the Korean behemoth may eventually roll out the stable update by the end of October. Since developers won’t have to deal with minor bugs and prepare new beta builds almost every other week, they can focus on the real issues and speed up the development. The desired stability for One UI 7.0 could be achieved quickly for a timely public rollout.

This may be Samsung’s approach going forward. It doesn’t want to leave everything to beta testers. Its software team will internally test big updates to achieve a certain level of stability before a public release. One UI 7.0 is already looking like a massive leap in the Galaxy experience. If the Android 15-based update lives up to expectations, Galaxy users shouldn’t complain about a delayed beta program.
