Chinese display maker BOE could be gaining a larger foothold in Samsung’s smartphone supply chain. While recent rumors have suggested that some Galaxy S27 models may adopt BOE-made OLED panels next year, a new report claims the transition could begin even sooner with the Galaxy S26 FE. If accurate, it would mark the first time Samsung uses a BOE panel on Galaxy S phones.

Samsung could be looking to lower costs with BOE displays

BOE has steadily expanded its presence in the smartphone display market over the past few years. The company already supplies OLED panels to several major smartphone brands and has continuously improved its manufacturing capabilities. However, it hasn’t been able to enter Samsung’s display supply chain for flagship products. Premium Galaxy devices continue to use in-house Samsung displays.

That could be changing soon, though. If rumors are accurate, the Galaxy S26 FE, expected in the final quarter of the year, could use a BOE display. Moreover, BOE could also make it into the main Galaxy S27 flagship lineup next year, albeit only on the base model.

As of this writing, the exact details remain unclear, including how many Galaxy S26 FE or S27 units would use BOE panels and whether Samsung Display will continue supplying displays alongside BOE. However, Samsung appears keen on diversifying its display supply chain for flagships.

Industry observers suggest the move could be linked to rising component costs and Samsung’s efforts to improve profit margins. As smartphone hardware becomes more expensive year after year, the Korean firm may be exploring additional suppliers to keep costs under control. An earlier report claimed that BOE has offered to supply the screens at a lower price than Samsung Display.
