Samsung appears to be preparing its first major post-launch update for the Galaxy S26 series. In fact, the company briefly pushed a nearly 1GB update to the S26 Ultra in China before quietly pulling it from its servers. The package seemed to contain more than routine security fixes, but its sudden withdrawal suggests Samsung may have spotted last-minute issues. It may resume the rollout in the coming days.

Samsung pulls a 1GB update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra shortly after release

According to reliable tipster Ice Universe, Samsung recently rolled out a nearly 1GB update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in China, carrying the build version S9480ZCU1AZCG. The changelog for the update was fairly standard, mentioning only security fixes and stability improvements. It bundled the February 2026 security patch.

However, the file size and build version suggest the update contains more (the character between C and 1 in the build number is typically S for routine security patches and U for bigger updates). Even if Samsung didn’t bundle any new features, the update may have included some optimizations for smoother and more reliable everyday performance.

The sudden suspension, though, points to the possibility that Samsung identified an issue during the rollout. While the company hasn’t provided an official explanation, it’s not uncommon for firmware updates to be paused if unexpected bugs or compatibility problems surface. In such cases, Samsung typically conducts additional testing and re-releases the update either in its original form or with further fixes applied.

It’s worth noting that Samsung has already rolled out the February 2026 security patch for the Galaxy S26 series in most markets. It recently started pushing the March release to its devices, with the latest flagships expected to receive the update soon. We will have to wait and see if the next release will be a security patch or something bigger.
