Samsung recently confirmed that its Gallery integration with Microsoft OneDrive will end on September 30, 2026. After that date, photos and videos stored in Gallery will stop syncing with OneDrive. However, the company appears to have already begun winding down the feature. The OneDrive sync option no longer appears for users who haven’t previously enabled it, though existing users may continue using the service until the deadline.

The change appears to be happening quietly. Rather than displaying a warning or migration notice, Samsung Gallery is simply removing the OneDrive sync option altogether on newer versions. If you haven’t previously used the feature, you can no longer enable it. Thankfully, OneDrive sync hasn’t suddenly disappeared for existing users. It will remain around until the end of September, so you can plan your move accordingly.

As confirmed by Microsoft and Samsung, your synced photos and videos will not be deleted even after the deadline. You can access them anytime directly through the OneDrive app. However, they will not appear in Gallery, unless you have the original file saved in the phone. Gallery will no longer pull the files stored in the cloud. Samsung says you can download the files from OneDrive ahead of the deadline later this year.

As for the future ahead, Samsung hasn’t announced its plans. However, rumors suggest the company may bring back Samsung Cloud as the primary backup solution for Gallery users. It remains to be seen if it will offer users a way to move files from OneDrive to Samsung Cloud (or any other backup service it integrates into Gallery) without downloading them locally on the device. We will let you know when we have more information.
