Trusted Leaker Reveals Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) Battery, Charging and Camera Details

Samsung’s foldable phones have come a long way in terms of design, durability, and performance. However, one area where they have consistently lagged behind many rivals is charging speed. That could finally change this year. A new leak from a trusted industry insider claims the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) will feature 45W wired charging support, alongside a sizeable battery. Cameras may not be bad either.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) may bring a long-overdue charging upgrade

Barring some limited edition models, Samsung’s foldables have always been capped at a 25W charging ceiling. The company could finally upgrade to faster charging this year. According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) will pack a 4,800mAh battery and support 45W wired charging. The Fold 8 Ultra, which will succeed last year’s Fold 7, is also expected to charge at the same speed, if not faster.

The reported battery capacity may not be groundbreaking, but it’s sizeable for a foldable expected to weigh just 201 grams and measure around 4.3mm when unfolded. Samsung has faced criticism in recent years for prioritizing thinner and lighter designs while making only modest gains in battery capacity. It may have struck a nice balance this year, though efficiency remains a concern because of the Fold 8 Wide’s massive screens.

Dual 50MP cameras may not be as bad as they sound

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) is likely to cost a fortune, possibly closer to $2,000. However, it may not offer the best camera experience. Samsung will reportedly include only two cameras here: a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultrawide lens. There’s no dedicated zoom hardware, a compromise that prioritizes a slimmer and lighter profile.

Thankfully, the 50MP primary camera in question may be the latest sensor with native 24MP shooting capabilities. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup also supports 24MP shooting, but you first need to enable it via Camera Assistant. The devices default to 12MP images.
