Samsung Explores Enhanced Haptic Feedback in One UI 7.0

by | Dec 24, 2024 | News, One UI

Over the past few weeks, Samsung has rolled out two One UI 7.0 beta builds for the Galaxy S24 series. These updates introduced a host of new features and improvements alongside a massive UI redesign. The final build could bring some much-needed enhancements for haptic feedback.

One UI 7.0 beta users push for haptic feedback enhancements

Samsung’s beta programs are designed to help One UI developers find and address bugs before the final release. Beta participants can report bugs and other issues they discover across various apps and features. They can also provide suggestions on how a particular feature can be improved for an enhanced Galaxy experience. If the developers find the suggestions valuable and practical, they might implement those in the final build.

A One UI 7.0 beta user recently shared some detailed suggestions on how Samsung could improve haptic feedback on Galaxy phones. They made five specific recommendations, including enhancements for back gesture haptic. The user suggested One UI should offer short vibrations when canceling a back gesture.

Another proposal involves adding haptic feedback when pulling down the Quick Panel. A single, clear haptic vibration could confirm the activation of the panel without requiring the user to look away. Their suggestions also include haptic feedback when adjusting the sliders for volume or brightness, launching the app drawer, and switching between apps through the Recents menu.

In response, a beta community moderator thanked the user for the suggestions and confirmed that they had been forwarded to the relevant team. Samsung will consider these haptic enhancements after evaluating their practicality. Some of the suggestions are quite practical and useful. It remains to be seen if the company actually adopts them in the final One UI 7.0 update. The new version arrives in late January.

Meanwhile, Samsung may launch One UI 7.0 Beta 3 later this month. It is also expected to roll out beta programs for more devices, including the Galaxy S23 series. We will let you know when the company officially confirms these expansions.
