While Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone is grabbing most of the attention, its next-gen flagship tablets are also starting to leak online. A fresh report claims that the company may skip the battery upgrade for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. This could disappoint power users who were expecting a larger cell this year.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra may pack the same battery as the S11 Ultra

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S12 lineup could include two models: Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra. The former may feature a 12.4-inch screen, while the latter could boast a 14.6-inch screen. There’s no doubt the Ultra’s large display will deliver an immersive experience. However, when it comes to battery improvements, you may have to settle for the same capacity as the predecessor unless chip or software tweaks bring efficiency gains.

According to a report from Galaxyclub, Samsung may equip the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra with a typical battery capacity of 11,600 mAh (rated capacity of 11,374 mAh). This is the same capacity as last year’s Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The company did increase the battery slightly from the Tab S10 Ultra’s 11,200 mAh to the Tab S11 Ultra’s 11,600 mAh. However, the company now appears to be keeping the capacity unchanged for the next-gen tablet.

The good news is that the Galaxy Tab S12+ may see a battery upgrade compared to the Galaxy Tab S10+ (the company skipped the plus variant in the Tab S11 lineup). An earlier report suggests the tablet could feature a 10,600 mAh battery, higher than the previous generation (10090 mAh).

Samsung will reportedly unveil the Galaxy Tab S12 series around September 2026. This follows its usual annual launch schedule for premium tablets, so a release during that period is highly likely. The price range has also been tipped, with reports suggesting the lineup could start at about $1,100 to $1,200. More details about the tablets should surface in the coming months.
