Samsung is making a big change in China after facing strong competition from local brands. Earlier reports suggested the company might rethink its strategy, and now that seems true. Samsung has decided to stop selling its home appliances in mainland China. This shows how tough the market has become for foreign companies.

Samsung exits home appliance market in China, confirms official notice

The decision was confirmed through a notice on Samsung’s China website (h/t Ice Universe on X). It clearly states the company will “cease sales of all home appliance products,” including TVs and monitors. This means a full exit from categories like refrigerators, washing machines, and other household electronics in the region.

Samsung said the move comes due to “rapidly changing market conditions.” In simple terms, local brands are growing fast and making it harder for Samsung to compete. The company added that the decision was made after “careful consideration,” suggesting it wasn’t taken lightly but as part of a long-term plan.

Even though sales are stopping, Samsung assured customers they won’t be left without support. The company said it will “continue to provide standardized after-sales services” under Chinese laws. This includes repairs, warranty services, and installation support, with no drop in service quality.

Customer service channels will also remain active. Samsung confirmed that service centers, hotlines, and online support will continue as usual. It also said repair costs and policies will stay the same, adding that “customers’ legitimate rights and interests are not affected.”

Importantly, Samsung is not leaving China completely. Its smartphone business will continue as normal. So while the company is exiting home appliances, it is still staying in the market, focusing on areas where it can compete better.
