Samsung Doubles Down on AI Wearables with Galaxy Glasses, New Buds

It’s no secret that Samsung has a pair of AI-powered smart glasses in the works. Tentatively called the Galaxy Glasses, leaks have already revealed plenty about the upcoming wearable device. Now, a company executive has reiterated plans to launch the pair later this year. They also confirmed the ongoing development of new wireless earbuds, possibly the Galaxy Buds Able.
Samsung’s long-rumored AI smart glasses move closer to reality
Speaking to investors, Seong Cho, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Mobile division, said the company plans to deliver “immersive multimodal AI experiences” across new form factors, including AI glasses. The statement reinforces the company’s growing focus on ambient computing, where AI is seamlessly integrated into everyday devices.
The Galaxy Glasses are expected to run Google’s Android XR platform, which also powers the Galaxy XR headset. It could feature built-in speakers, microphones, and a 12MP camera, enabling a wide range of hands-free interactions. Google Gemini will likely handle AI capabilities, allowing users to ask questions, capture photos and videos, share content, and control media playback using voice commands.
The Samsung executive added that the company is working on “more advanced Galaxy AI capabilities and health features.” Additionally, Samsung plans to expand its TWS (wireless earbuds) lineup. While Cho didn’t share more details, the Korean firm has a new pair, supposedly called the Galaxy Buds Able, in development.
These earbuds could be different from anything Samsung has offered so far. They could adopt a clip-on design and use bone conduction technology to transmit sound through vibrations rather than traditional in-ear speakers. This would allow users to stay aware of their surroundings while listening to audio, making them particularly appealing for fitness and outdoor use. Both of these products may debut in the second half of the year.
