Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite bundles several AI features that make our day-to-day lives easier. One of these is Photo Assist, an AI-powered photo editing tool within the Gallery app. The Korean firm recently said that this tool is gaining traction among young users. Its usage over the past three months has doubled compared to the same period last year.

AI Photo Assist is now a go-to editing tool for young users

Introduced with the Galaxy S24 series as part of Galaxy AI, Photo Assist allows users to perform advanced edits with just a few taps. It includes some powerful features, such as Generative editing and Portrait Studio. The former uses AI to fill in the background while the latter turns portrait photos into 3D characters. Basically, this tool makes complex photo editing simple, eliminating the need for professional software.

Thanks to its advanced editing capabilities, Samsung has seen increased usage of this tool lately. A company representative said, “This increase in usage is the result of young people, particularly those in their teens to 30s, who are actively recording their daily lives through photographs and producing social media (SNS) content.”

The representative further added, “The function of removing objects from images and filling in space through generative editing has received praise online and on various YouTube channels for its natural results.” So, the generative photo editing feature within Photo Assist is the favourite one among young users. It allows users to resize, remove, or reposition objects in the image. You can also expand images while AI fills in the perfect background, making photo editing simple.

This rise in Photo Assist usage shows that people want smart tools that offer advanced-level editing without much hassle. Samsung says generative editing is more than correcting photos — it’s a way for users to express their personality and taste. The company promised it will continue to introduce unique Galaxy AI features that enhance convenience in daily life.
