Samsung is expected to debut the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for a mid-2025 launch. On the other hand, its Chinese competitor, OnePlus, is already gearing up to grab a big slice of the pie with the release of the OnePlus Open 2. Now, the rumored renders have surfaced, offering us our first glimpse of what the competition might look like. (Spoiler alert: it’s already knocking our socks off.)
This is your first look at the upcoming OnePlus Open 2
Smartprix, in collaboration with Yogesh Brar and Chunvn, has published what looks like the upcoming OnePlus Open 2. Essentially, the rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. It could sport an 8-inch 2K LTPO main display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 6.4-inch AMOLED cover screen.
Under the hood, it’s could house the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is also coming for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. The device could come with a whopping 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. In terms of cameras, it’s rumored to pack a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens, all with 3x optical zoom. On the front, there may be 32MP and 20MP sensors.
As for the battery, the OnePlus Open 2 could house a 5,900mAh battery. This will support 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. A bigger portion of what’s coming to OnePlus Open 2 will be confirmed when the Oppo Find N5 debuts in China early next year. Contextually, the OnePlus Open 2 may simply be a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N5.
When OnePlus debuted its Open foldable smartphone, it undoubtedly impressed both reviewers and consumers alike. Having had a brief hands-on experience myself, I was amazed at how well the crease was handled. So, I’m expecting nothing less than perfection from the OnePlus Open 2.
