It’s been a short while since Samsung started testing One UI 9 on a few Galaxy devices. Before you get too excited, no, you can’t try it yet, and it’s far from beta. Still, some leaked One UI 9 builds are surfacing, revealing upcoming features ahead of the public release.

Samsung may bring Driving Insights to Galaxy phones with One UI 9

Android Authority, while toying with one of these leaked One UI 9 builds, spotted hints of an in-progress app called Driving Insights. According to the publication, it appears to monitor your precise location and uses AI to analyze how you drive, providing feedback along with customized weekly reports based on your driving behavior.

Moreover, the publication hints that it will leverage your phone’s sensors to assess several aspects of your driving, such as speed and braking intensity. The app also appears to be configurable to launch automatically when your phone connects to your car via Bluetooth. When reviewing past trips, you’ll be able to sort them by factors like time and distance.

Presumably, at the end of the week, you’ll see these reports delivered in Now Brief.

  • This week, you drove in a defensive style. Steady and cautious—keep it up!
  • This week, your driving had a dynamic pattern. Try to keep speed and steering smooth for consistency.
  • This week, you did a lot of long-distance driving. Make sure to watch out for drowsy driving and take breaks every now and then.
  • This week, your driving was practical and balanced. Good balance of safety and efficiency.
  • This week, your driving showed a spirited style. Keep an eye on smooth acceleration and braking for even safer trips.

The app’s code also shows it can track how quickly you speed up, slow down, and take turns, flagging sudden changes and sharp movements. Early versions also include setup screens, permissions, settings, and trip history. It uses on-device AI to analyze your driving, but it’s unclear how useful it will be, especially if it softens feedback on unsafe behavior.

We can’t wait to try Driving Insights and see how useful it really is. That said, it may take some time before you can try Driving Insights, as One UI 9 is likely to debut first on foldables. Last year, Samsung opened One UI 8 to more devices shortly after debuting it on foldables.
