One UI 7.0 leaks are a regular occurrence these days. Earlier this month, we uncovered an early build of the OS running on a demo device at SDC 2024. Since then, Samsung made considerable improvements and changes to the design and functionality under the hood. Numerous Youtube videos surfaced with a full look at the new quick panel, notifications, and redesigned icons. Now, we have what appears to be an official promo video for One UI 7.0 courtesy of Android Headlines. The video is quite short, only 6 seconds long, but we can see quite a few interesting changes on full display. This appears to be a video created for a keynote presentation or press release, so we could very well see the beta launch at SDC Korea 2024.
One UI 7.0 Design Changes
The video shows off the new icons, with an animation that instantly changes the One UI 6.1 icons to their new 7.0 counterparts. Nothing here is particularly new as these icons already surfaced via other leaks over the past few weeks. Samsung did listen carefully to user feedback after SDC and made appropriate changes to key icon designs. If you look closely, there is a new app on the Home Screen called ‘Cloud’. This is most likely a rebranding of Samsung Cloud with expanded features. There are a few new widget designs as well, including a Gallery widget with customizable shapes.
On the Lock Screen, the new Live Activities feature is visible at the bottom of the screen. The video cycles through three different activities, one for media, a timer, and an audio recording using Voice Recorder. In the final two seconds of the video, Samsung unveils the new separated notification and quick panels. Samsung obviously wants to make it clear that these are separate panels by default, but we have seen that you can combine them if you choose. The video prominently displays November 10th throughout on the Lock Screen and quick settings. Could this be the date for the One UI 7.0 beta to finally go live?
One UI 7.0 New Features
In their article, Android Headlines also highlights a few new features coming to One UI 7.0. Many of these features are already present on One UI 6.1.1, such as Energy Score and Circle to Search for Math. However, they do show off a new design for Samsung Health and new Child Safety and Parental Monitoring features coming with One UI 7.0. Portrait Mode also gets a redesign, making it easier to see the changes to your photo as you edit. There are likely many other new features to discover when Samsung officially unveils the new OS, but these few improvements are welcome nonetheless.
We expect Samsung to release the beta by the end of 2024. But at this point, a release in November 2024 seems most likely. The stability of One UI 7.0 seems on par with an imminent beta release. We’ve also heard that an internal stable build for Samsung employees is nearing completion. If you’re planning to try out the beta, make sure to update your Samsung Members app. We will keep you up to date with all things One UI 7.0 through the beta and into the stable release. Stay tuned for a full feature rundown the minute the beta goes live!
