Samsung has released its January 2025 security update for more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE), and Galaxy S21 FE are receiving the latest security patch in various markets around the world. The company previously updated the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 to this month’s patch.

Galaxy Z Flip 4, Fold 4, and more grab the January update

Samsung’s first security patch of the new year contains over 50 vulnerability fixes across the Galaxy family. As usual, the bulk of those are Android OS patches coming from Google. The Android maker addressed six critical and dozens of high-severity vulnerabilities discovered in various system apps and components. The remaining few patches are Samsung-specific and do not affect other brands.

The Korean tech conglomerate has already rolled out the new patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), to a bunch of Galaxy phones. It’s now adding Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, Fold SE, and Galaxy S21 FE to the January update list. If you are using any of these devices, watch out for a new update in the coming days. You can always check for updates manually from the Settings app.

While the build number and update size may vary depending on your device’s model and region, Samsung isn’t pushing the same package to everyone. The update only brings this month’s 50-odd security fixes to your Galaxy smartphone. There aren’t any new features or enhancements to look forward to. All of those are reserved for the Android 15-based One UI 7 update coming later this month.

One UI 7.0 will debut with the Galaxy S25 series on January 22. Samsung will then gradually roll out the big update to other eligible models, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. For those looking to buy a Galaxy S25, pre-reservations are already open. Pre-orders are expected to begin immediately after the launch next week.
