Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S25 flagships are official today. The company launched three new models: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Each model is designed to cater to different user preferences. The Ultra is the most powerful of the lot, offering the best of everything. However, when it comes to software updates, the smaller two models match the Ultra. Samsung promises the same update support for the entire lineup.

Galaxy S25 Ultra and its siblings are eligible for seven years of updates

Samsung has announced seven years of updates for the Galaxy S25 series. These include seven major Android OS and One UI updates. The devices ship with Android 15-based One UI 7 and will receive updates up to Android 22 and One UI 14, which should come sometime in 2031 or 2032. No other brand offers longer Android update support — Samsung even commits to six years of updates for budget phones.

Beyond these major OS upgrades, the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra will receive dozens of security patches and other minor updates in their lifetime. Samsung offers monthly security patches to its flagships for 4-5 years before dropping them to quarterly releases. Expect the same for the new models. The Korean firm will keep your Galaxy S25 secure with timely security patches for several years to come. The first security update could come sometime next month or even earlier.

As far as minor feature updates are concerned, there’s no specific timeline for those. Samsung may push some functional changes and enhancements once in a while. We expect at least one notable feature update in between major OS upgrades every year. We are talking about the One UI x.1.1-based update that debuts with new foldables in July or August. Samsung should introduce One UI 7.1.1 with its seventh-gen foldables later this year.
