Samsung today launched the Galaxy S25 series with several notable upgrades across the lineup. However, the camera improvements appear minimal. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ feature the same camera hardware as the 2024 models, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra sees only one of its five cameras get a new sensor. Despite this, the new flagships promise enhanced photo and video quality, thanks to AI advancements and new features.
Galaxy S25 Ultra camera: new features and enhancements
Samsung touts the Galaxy S25 series to set a new benchmark in mobile photography. It is betting on advanced camera technologies and innovative features rather than the hardware, which is largely unchanged. The company says the new camera enhancements are ideal for both professional creators and everyday users. The new flagships bring unparalleled detail, vibrant colors, and enhanced editing capabilities.
For starters, the Galaxy S25 Ultra sports a 50MP ultrawide camera, which replaces the S24 Ultra’s 12MP unit. The rest of the cameras are unchanged: 200MP primary shooter, 50MP 5x zoom camera, 10MP 3x zoom camera, and 10MP selfie shooter. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ boast a completely unchanged camera setup: 50MP main camera, 10MP 3x zoom lens, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie shooter.
But besides hardware, there are several notable improvements here. Enhanced ProVisual Engine provides remarkable clarity and precision, while Samsung now offers 10-bit HDR recording as a default feature across the Galaxy S25 lineup. This brings four times richer color expression than 8-bit, enabling more life-like images even in challenging lighting conditions. Low-light videos also benefit from advanced noise reduction technology.
Taking creativity a step further, the Galaxy S25 series introduces Audio Eraser, which lets you remove unwanted noise from videos effortlessly. You can filter out unwanted human voices, music, wind, or crowd noise from videos. For photography enthusiasts, the new flagships offer Virtual Aperture through the Expert RAW app. You can control depth-of-field settings for DSLR-like bokeh effects on your new phone.
Additionally, the new Galaxy Log mode empowers videographers with precise color grading options, bringing professional-grade video production capabilities. Samsung has also upgraded Portrait Studio to enable users to create highly personalized avatars with lifelike facial expressions. For those who enjoy a nostalgic aesthetic, the updated Filters section now includes new analog filters that deliver a film-like quality to photos and videos.
Pre-orders are now live
While Samsung didn’t upgrade the camera hardware much, the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra bring plenty of camera enhancements. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset and One UI 7 features ensure you get better photos and videos. The devices are now available for pre-order. Our Mystery Box program is also active for all three models, offering exclusive benefits.
