Samsung updated Home Up, the Good Lock module for customizing the home screen, with new features on One UI 7.0. You get deeper customizations with granular controls over home screen animations. And if you’re using the Galaxy Z Fold 6, you’re in for a treat. With the latest DIY feature, you can create completely separate layouts for the cover screen and main screen, allowing you to design unique, personalized setups for foldable displays.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 supports separate DIY home screens on the main display and cover screen
Traditionally, One UI maintains a consistent home screen layout across both screens of foldables. But with Home Up DIY on One UI 7.0, you can go wild. For example, you can keep a minimalist, functional cover screen while having an elaborate, widget-packed layout on the main folding display. You can also arrange apps, folders, and widgets differently for better multitasking and accessibility. After all, multitasking is one of the key advantages of foldables.
This feature is a game-changer for customization enthusiasts, not just on foldables but any supported Galaxy smartphone. Home Up’s DIY home screen allows you to position app icons anywhere with no grid restrictions. You can overlap icons, rotate them, and resize them to your liking. For foldable users, the ability to create custom home screen designs across the two displays is an added perk and a meaningful addition from Samsung.
I know many were wondering…yes you can use Home UP DIY to create a separate crazy layout on your Z Fold 6 cover screen and main screen. This is why I won’t ever leave Samsung…well this, and the fact that it’s my entire livelihood now lol pic.twitter.com/94LLFH6bPo

If anything, we’d like to see Samsung add an import/export option for DIY home screen. If the company were to introduce this, users could easily share their creative setups or restore layouts when switching devices. This would be a killer addition for those who love crafting elaborate home screen designs. For now, you’ll have to manually recreate layouts, but hopefully, Samsung will add an import/export feature in a future update.
