It increasingly seems like Spotify has started a trend with its latest disco-themed icon. As a result, Google is adding a new disco icon style to Pixel phones, announced Android President Sameer Samat. Yes, it looks exactly as flashy as it sounds. It gives icons a shiny, reflective look that mimics a disco ball, all set against a dark background.

Pixel customization gets louder with new disco icon style

As for how Pixel users can try the Disco icon style, the update expands the Pixel Launcher’s AI-powered icon system, giving users another way to tweak their home screen without downloading third-party icon packs. It definitely stands out, though whether you’ll want to look at it every day is another question entirely.

As Artem Russakovskii explains, unlike traditional Android icon packs, this system relies on AI to recreate icons based on preset styles. That keeps things simple, but it also limits customization. You’re picking a vibe rather than fully controlling how each icon looks.

Disco joins other styles like Scribbles, Stardust, Cookies, Easel, and Treasure, all of which use the same AI approach. These options give Pixel users some variety, though they still fall short of the flexibility Android used to be known for. So, have you tried these on your Pixel phone yet? What do you think?
