Google continues to improve its Drive experience with cutting-edge AI features. The file-hosting service now gets Ask Gemini and AI Overviews, so you can find and understand information easily. These tools are currently rolling out to eligible Google Workspace and Google AI plans.

Google Drive brings two new AI tools to improve the user experience

With Ask Gemini baked into Drive, Google now offers an immersive workspace for deep focus. The platform features dedicated conversations, allowing you to ask questions about specific folders or groups of files. The AI offers more precise and useful answers based on the relevant content.

Thanks to Drive projects, you can organize related files and folders into one central space. This makes it easier to manage complex workflows while helping teams stay on the same page. The best thing is that your chats with Ask Gemini are saved, so you can come back later and resume from where you left off. Note that Ask Gemini does not copy or replicate your files.

Furthermore, Google Drive now features AI Overviews, making it much easier to find information. You can now get answers to your query quickly at the top of their search results. This means you no longer need to open many files or browse through multiple tabs.

For example, you can type questions such as “What’s in our Spring 2026 catalog?” and get a direct answer. The AI understands the user’s intent, whether it is a quick fact, a project summary, or a list of documents. It then adjusts the response accordingly. For more details, you can easily move from a short summary to a deeper conversation with just one click.

Both the Ask Gemini and AI Overviews tools for Google Drive began rolling out in English on April 22. The company says it may take up to 15 days for the features to become visible to most eligible users.
