Gemini Live Arrives on Galaxy Phones, Say Hello to Smarter AI Chats

by | Aug 16, 2024 | Galaxy AI, News

Google announced several new updates for its Gemini AI assistant at the Pixel 9 launch earlier this week. One of the new features, Gemini Live, is now rolling out to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. More AI advancements will follow in the coming weeks, including an update for Circle to Search.

Gemini Live is rolling out to Galaxy smartphones

Gemini Live is an advanced version of Google’s AI assistant. It offers a conversational AI experience on Android phones and tablets. You can have continuous conversations with the AI chatbot like with a human. You can interrupt it mid-conversation to dig deeper into a specific point, then return to the main topic later. The AI tool remembers what you were talking about and seamlessly gets back to it.

“Ask complex questions, explore new ideas, or even brainstorm potential jobs well-suited for your skillset or degree,” Google explains. You can chat with Gemini Live “about whatever’s on your mind.” The advanced AI assistant is slowly rolling out to Galaxy users with a Gemini Advanced subscription. Yes, it requires the paid version of Gemini and is currently limited to English language users.

Google says Gemini Live will add support for more languages “in the coming weeks,” but don’t expect it to be free anytime soon, if at all. The rollout began recently, so it might take a while before the update reaches all eligible users globally. We checked multiple Galaxy devices with Gemini Advanced here at the SammyGuru office and Gemini Live isn’t available on any of them. Hopefully, it will arrive soon.

When available, you will see a waveform badge with a sparkle icon in the bottom right corner of the Gemini Advanced homescreen. You can tap it to start continuous conversations with Gemini Live. The UI offers two dedicated buttons to hold or end the conversation. Google is expected to soon launch Gemini Live extensions for other first-party apps, including Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and YouTube.
