Rumors suggest that Samsung will launch new foldables on July 22 in London. The company may unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which sits at the top of the lineup, could bring a notable display upgrade, though details remain under wraps for now.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may feature higher resolution screens
Popular tipster Ice Universe says that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will feature a “significantly enhanced” screen resolution. There’s no word on exact numbers yet, and it’s unclear whether the improvement applies to the outer display, the main folding panel, or both.
To put things into perspective, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 shipped with a 2520 x 1080 cover screen and a 2184 x 1968 internal display. The outer panel actually delivered a higher pixel density (422 PPI) than the larger folding screen (368 PPI). If Samsung wants to balance things out, the inner display would be the logical place to start.
That said, sharper specs don’t always translate into a noticeably better experience. The Fold series already offers displays that look crisp in almost every scenario. For most users, the difference might be subtle at best. Well, when you’re paying top dollar, even marginal gains help sweeten the deal.
Furthermore, all upcoming foldables will come in four colors each. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, in particular, will reportedly come in Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow, and Violet Shadow. Much like predecessor, the storage configurations are going up to 1TB. All four will go on sale likely on August 5. There’s no word on pricing yet, but reports suggest a price hike is likely.
