Google Wallet Adds Support for Quicker TSA Touchless ID Access

Google is rolling out a new feature that could make airport security a lot quicker. Now, Google Wallet lets users sign up for TSA PreCheck Touchless ID directly from their phone, so they don’t have to deal with extra steps at the airport.

Google Wallet makes TSA PreCheck Touchless ID easier to use

Touchless ID allows travelers to go through security without showing a physical ID. It can save time, but right now it’s not widely available. Only some airports and a small number of airlines support the feature, so many people still won’t see the option yet.

With this update, users just need to add their boarding pass to Google Wallet and create a digital ID pass. If they are eligible for TSA PreCheck, they will see a “get started” button. The rest of the process happens on a TSA page where they agree to share their details.

After approval, a badge appears on the boarding pass to show that Touchless ID is active. This means users can go through a faster security line without taking out their ID. In many cases, they won’t even need to open the Wallet app again.

Right now, setting this up can be confusing. Some airline apps hide the option, and entering details again and again can get annoying. Google Wallet puts everything in one place, which makes the process easier and quicker.

Google also says user data is safe. Information is only shared after permission is given and the phone is unlocked. The data is stored on the device. Support is expected to grow to more airlines soon, making this feature more useful over time.
