As we approach the launch of Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy foldable lineup, more details are surfacing on the web. A fresh leak suggests that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 could be lighter than its predecessor. If true, it would be the company’s lightest Fold model to date.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 could continue the weight-cutting trend

In recent years, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold models have evolved into lighter devices. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 weighed 253g, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighed 239g. The latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs 215g. As you can see, each generation has brought reductions in weight, showing the company’s consistent design direction.

It looks like this year’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 will also see a reduction in weight. Tipster yeux1122 says the next-gen Fold could be even lighter than the current model. While they do not mention an exact figure, previous reports suggest a weight of around 200g. This means roughly 15g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The tipster also notes that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may keep the same dimensions as its predecessor. This suggests that Samsung is not cutting corners on the external design but instead focusing on internal component optimization to reduce weight.

Interestingly, there’s chatter that Samsung may equip the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a 5,000mAh battery. This is around 600mAh more than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (a big jump in capacity for the foldable lineup). The company may have gone through advanced engineering processes to fit such a big capacity while keeping the device light.

Samsung is expected to debut the Galaxy Z Fold 8 on July 22 at an event in London. At the same event, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the rumored Z Fold 8 Wide could also join the lineup. You can sign up for the SammyGuru Mystery Box program to score freebies with every new foldable order.
