Samsung may have made some bold decisions for 2026. Despite rising component costs, the company plans to hold the line on pricing for its next-gen flagships. Not just the Galaxy S26 series, but 2026 foldables may keep prices unchanged as well. The latest leak also hints at a massive battery boost and lighter design for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.

Early Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 price leak is impressive

According to the Korean media, Samsung will price the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at $1,999 and the Flip 8 at $1,099. If accurate, we are looking at a zero hike over the 2025 foldable lineup. As mentioned above, the Galaxy S26 series is also rumored to debut at the same prices as the S25 lineup. Some regions may still see a minor hike because of local taxes and other headwinds.

The new report also hints at a massive weight reduction for Samsung’s next-generation foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 could tip the scales at around 200 grams, down from the Fold 7’s 215 grams. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may see an even more dramatic reduction, cutting roughly 38 grams and landing close to the 150-gram mark.

That said, there are reasons to be cautious about these claims. It would be a remarkable feat if Samsung managed to significantly reduce the weight while also fitting a much larger battery into the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The report suggests a jump to a 5,000mAh battery, up from the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh unit. Achieving both a slimmer, lighter design and a substantial battery increase would represent a major engineering breakthrough.

Further making these figures worth treating with some skepticism, an infographic accompanying the report says the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be 5 grams lighter than the Flip 7. This is probably more accurate, putting the new Flip at around 183 grams in weight. There’s still a long way to go before the new foldables start taking shape. Until then, you should be cautious about leaks and rumors.
