Samsung’s 2025 foldable smartphones have become more expensive in South Korea. The company has increased the prices of its Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 (review), particularly for higher storage versions. This is mainly because of the rising memory chip prices and currency fluctuations.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 now cost more in the home country

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 (review) in July 2025. The former is a clamshell-style phone that folds vertically, offering a compact design with a larger cover screen. The latter opens like a book and works like a tablet when unfolded. This makes it a perfect companion for multitasking and entertainment.

Korean media reports that the price of the 512GB Galaxy Z Flip 7 has increased from 1.64 million won to 1.73 million won. Likewise, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with the same storage sees a price hike from 2.53 million won to 2.63 million won. However, the prices of 256GB models have remained unchanged. This gives buyers a solid option if they pick lower storage models rather than premium versions.

In recent months, the prices of memory chips have increased sharply. As a result, OEMs are suffering higher production costs, leading to higher prices for smartphones and other devices. Samsung has already raised prices for some Galaxy A series models in markets like India. Now, the impact is being seen in its foldable smartphone lineup as well. The report also says that recent volatility in the foreign exchange market is further pushing price increases.

With prices of key parts rising gradually, it was inevitable to raise prices for some products,” said a Samsung Electronics official. It is unclear whether the Korean firm plans to hike prices of its 2025 foldable smartphones in the US, but the possibility remains. The foldable devices are available for purchase on the official US online store with solid trade-in benefits.
