Galaxy Z Flip FE Looks Set for Summer Release, Could be Rebadged Flip 6

Samsung appears to be finalizing plans to launch its first affordable foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, as early as this summer. While some reports suggested a delay, a trusted insider recently hinted at an early launch, possibly alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 in July. And as rumored before, the Flip FE does look like a rebadged Flip 6.

The Galaxy Z Flip FE is close to its official launch

Tipster Max Jambor reports that Samsung started the production of the Galaxy Z Flip FE’s “live demo units” for retail display purposes last month. These demo models typically precede full-scale manufacturing for consumer release, suggesting the official launch could still be on track for July’s Unpacked event. Otherwise, there’s no reason why Samsung would produce demo units so early.

Interestingly, the source says the Galaxy Z Flip FE weighs 187 grams, the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 6. This further supports earlier speculations that it’s a rebadged Flip 6 rather than a completely new product. The shape, size, and design, everything matches last year’s flip. Even the screen sizes, camera specs, and battery capacity remain unchanged.

If anything, Samsung may swap out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and equip the Flip FE with its in-house Exynos 2400 or Exynos 2400e. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. Earlier rumors suggested the device could cost $800, lowering the entry point for Galaxy foldables. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is likely to cost $1,100 or more.

If all goes according to plan, Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Z Flip FE, Flip 7, and Fold 7 this summer, possibly in the first half of July. However, if the earlier rumors of a delayed launch hold, it FE model could arrive sometime in September. It may accompany Samsung’s first-gen tri-fold, aka the Galaxy G Fold. More details will inevitably emerge in the coming weeks.
