Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition in the US. The kids-focused Android tablet is available online via the company’s official website, as well as third-party retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy. Priced at $269.99, it will also be available for in-store purchase at Samsung Experience Stores and Best Buy starting on August 11. A 5G version is coming later this month.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition arrives in the US

Originally launched in December 2020, the Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition is a mid-range Android tablet tailor-made for kids. It helps parents ensure a safe online environment for their children as they explore and connect with the digital world. At its core, it’s the regular Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ from last year, but with some special customizations that make it ideal for kids.

It comes with built-in tools to manage screen time and monitor kids’ online activities. Parents can customize when their kids can use the device and what apps they have access to. They can block apps and websites they don’t feel safe or appropriate for their children. Samsung ships the tablet with the Samsung Kids app and other special apps and games that help kids learn while having fun.

The Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition offers Eye Comfort Shield, which blocks harmful blue light from the screen. It comes with a kid-safe and ergonomic Puffy Cover featuring a built-in kickstand and lightweight design in Red, Yellow, and Blue colors. You also get three Crayo-Pen styli and two interchangeable tethers for the stylus. Samsung also offers colorful stickers that kids might love.

As far as specs are concerned, you get an 11-inch LCD screen with a 1,920 x 1,200 pixels resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The tablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 processor with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and a microSD card slot. The package includes a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos, a 5MP selfie camera, an 8MP rear camera, and a 7,040mAh battery with 15W charging.

For connectivity, you get GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.1, and a USB Type-C port. Though not confirmed, the Galaxy Tab A9+ likely runs Android 14-based One UI 6.1 software. Samsung has priced it at $269.99 with up to $170 instant trade-in credit if you send back an eligible device. A 5G-enabled version is coming to Verizon at the end of August. Its price tag should be revealed closer to its release.
