Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is facing a strange camera issue that affects close-up photography. When Focus Enhancer is enabled, the phone doesn’t always capture what the viewfinder shows. The final image is slightly shifted to the left, cutting off part of the right side. Samsung has acknowledged the bug and is working on a fix.

Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera doesn’t always capture the scene you carefully composed

A Galaxy S26 Ultra user recently raised this concern on Samsung’s official community forums in Korea. According to them, their new flagship moved close-up shots to the left after capturing. The scene they carefully composed was altered, with the phone producing a different output than previewed on the screen. They even shared visuals showing the mismatch between the viewfinder and the final photo.

A moderator later responded, confirming the bug. The root cause appears to be a mismatch between the preview and the actual capture process. When Focus Enhancer activates in close-up shooting scenarios, the phone switches to a different lens for the final shot, but the preview doesn’t follow. So while the screen continues to show the original lens view, the camera captures the image using a different lens. The result is a noticeable shift in composition once the photo is processed.

I could reproduce the issue on my Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, it only happened once after about 15 tries. The base Galaxy S26 didn’t show the same behavior, though I cannot completely rule out the possibility of it being unaffected. After all, the issue isn’t persistent on the Ultra either. It appears the system occasionally fails to match the preview with the actual photo being captured.

The good news is that a software fix is already in development. While there’s no confirmed timeline for its release, it shouldn’t take Samsung long. After all, it’s a fairly straightforward issue that doesn’t appear to affect many Galaxy devices.

While turning off Focus Enhancer appears to fix the problem, it’s difficult to get focus right for close-up photos without it. We will let you know when the said fix arrives. Until then, pay close attention when shooting close-up photos with your Galaxy S26 Ultra.
